Roof insurance claims, documented properly
This is the part of the business Seth started the company over. Most homeowners have never filed a roof claim and are negotiating a process they do not know against people who do it every day.

What we actually do

We inspect and document before you file, so you know whether you have a claim worth making. We meet your adjuster on the roof so somebody is up there who works for you and can point at what they might otherwise walk past. We provide the photo set, the measurements and the scope.
We’re roofers, not public adjusters and not attorneys, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we do is make sure the physical evidence on your roof is documented and presented clearly.
Denied is not always final
One of our customers put it plainly in a review. She was denied the first time. Kolt went back up, took a lot of pictures, and they opened another claim. The work got done.
First inspections get rushed.
First inspections get rushed. Adjusters carry heavy storm loads and sometimes spend very little time on a roof. When a denial is not supported by what is actually up there, a documented reinspection request is a legitimate path, and it works more often than people expect.
Straight talk about deductibles
Your deductible is your responsibility. In Texas it is illegal for a contractor to waive, absorb or rebate it, and any roofer who offers to is telling you exactly what kind of company they are. We’ll never make that offer.
We will tell you honestly whether your damage is likely to clear your deductible before you file, because a claim that does not is a claim not worth making.
How a job with us actually runs

We come out and look first, and that costs nothing. Somebody gets on the roof, not just in the driveway with binoculars. We photograph what we find, including the things you cannot see from the ground, and then we sit down and go through the pictures with you.
If there is damage worth filing on, we tell you and we explain what the claim process looks like before you call anyone. If there is not, we tell you that too, and you have lost nothing but the time it took us to look.
If there is damage worth filing on, we tell you and we explain what the claim process looks like before you call anyone.
When the work is scheduled we tarp your landscaping and the walls before a single shingle comes off. Material gets staged where it will not block you in. The tear off happens, we look at the decking with you if we find anything soft, and the new system goes on. At the end we run magnets over the yard and the driveway more than once, because nails in tires is the thing careless roofers are remembered for.
What to ask any roofer, including us
Ask whether they are replacing pipe boots and flashings or reusing them. Ask what happens if they find rotten decking and what it costs per sheet, so it is not a surprise mid job.
And if anyone offers to cover, waive, absorb or rebate your deductible, walk away. That is illegal in Texas and it pulls you into insurance fraud along with them. We will never make that offer, and any company that does is telling you exactly how it operates.
And if anyone offers to cover, waive, absorb or rebate your deductible, walk away.
Ask for proof of insurance, and ask them to send the certificate rather than describing it. Ask specifically what underlayment and what shingle line they are quoting, by name, and whether the shingle is impact rated. A quote that just says architectural shingles is not a quote you can compare against anything.
Ventilation is half of a roof's lifespan

The most common failure we find is blocked soffit vents. Insulation gets pushed into the eaves during an attic top up and seals off the intake. The ridge vent then has nothing to pull from and the whole system stalls. It is inexpensive to fix and almost nobody looks for it.
When we quote a roof we look at what intake and exhaust you actually have, not just what is visible from the driveway. If the ventilation is undersized we will tell you, and we will explain what correcting it costs, because putting a new roof over a bad ventilation situation just starts the clock over on the same problem.

Attic ventilation is the least discussed part of roofing and one of the most consequential. Air has to come in low at the soffits and leave high at the ridge. When that path is working, the attic stays close to outdoor temperature and the shingles above it live a normal life.

Questions about roof insurance claims
Can you waive my deductible?
No, and neither can anyone else legally in Texas. A contractor offering to eat your deductible is committing insurance fraud and pulling you into it. Walk away from that offer.
What if my claim was already denied?
Get a proper documented inspection. If the evidence supports damage, a reinspection can be requested with that documentation. We have had denials reversed this way.
Do you meet the adjuster?
Yes, whenever we can. It matters. It means someone is on the roof who can point out the strikes and the collateral damage rather than hoping they are found.
What is the difference between ACV and RCV?
Actual cash value pays the depreciated value up front. Replacement cost value pays the rest once the work is done and invoiced. Most policies here are RCV and release the recoverable depreciation after completion.
Do I need a public adjuster?
Sometimes, on complicated or contested claims. We are not one and will not pretend to be. For most straightforward hail claims, thorough documentation and an adjuster meeting is enough.

What people say
From customers
We had a great experience with Seth and his team at Ovation Roofing. They were professional, honest, and very easy to work with throughout the entire process. Communication was clear, the work was done on schedule, and the quality of the roof looks fantastic. It’s refreshing to work with a company that does what they say they’ll do. I would absolutely recommend Ovation Roofing to anyone needing roofing work.
Roof replacement customer
Seth came out and checked on our roof and was super kind, quick and efficient. He was very knowledgeable and thorough with explaining exactly what we needed to do and what the process would look like. I had a lot of questions and he answered all of them and made sure I understood the process. I had another quote from a different company and this was a completely different experience.
